I Created my own Flappy Bird

Today in extension I was doing a bit of coding on the Hour of Code website. In one of the activities I tried to recreate Flappy bird but also made different versions. I hope you enjoy playing. Try Flappy Shark, Flappy Santa, Flappy Bird and Flappy Bird Hacked. If you're really insane you will also try Flappy Bird Impossible! I'd like to see you try.

My Final Visual Mihi

Hello everyone, this shall be my final Visual Mihi for PT England School. If you didn't know what a visual mihi is, it's a singular page with you in the middle and four of the things you value most in life. As shown on the top left corner is 'Family' written fancy. It means I value family. On the top right corner it shows that I value Christianity. Then on the bottom left corner it shows the Maori flag. I am part maori and am very proud of it. Then finally on the bottom right is the best food in the whole wide world... SUSHI! So I hope you enjoyed my Visual Mihi, I enjoyed making it. If you liked it then please comment below, thanks.

Letter to New Zealand

Letter: Hello my dear friends and family of New Zealand who have been affected by the earthquake, I am very sorry to hear about the natural disaster that has hit most of your homes. I hope that you all know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. You should know that food supplies are on their way. I give my condolences to those who lost someone and I pray that whoever got injured will get better soon.

For those who didn’t know the earthquake was a 7.8 magnitude earthquake! It has so far been the third biggest earthquake recorded in New Zealand history. After the quake there were over eight hundred aftershocks, about 21 aftershocks every hour! There has been landslides, cracked and broken roads and sadly some people thought it cool to go looting at the same time as the earthquake hit. It says on the news that there is a possibility that there could be a Tsunami that might hit the top of the South Island in Kaikoura.

After the disaster there were still problems occurring, for example; aftershocks, looting and possibly Tsunami’s. Some families could have lost a family member. The aftershocks as you already know were over 800. Basically two earthquakes! The tsunami is likely to happen but we don’t know yet. Some adults who need to get to work can’t because of the uneven roads and most kids would have missed out on their NCEA tests because of the quake. Lots of schools and houses have been destroyed.

So to the people of Kaikoura I really am sorry to hear about what happened. I know how big the earthquake was not only by the news telling me it was a 7.8 earthquake but the night it hit it came all the way up to where I live and I felt a little quake in Auckland. So those who are leaving have a safe trip and for those who are staying be safe and I hope that your houses and businesses get fixed.

My favourite thing to do at Riverside Camp

In the first week of the holidays I went to a school camp for 8 - 13 year old students. It was run by our school principal, the leaders of the groups were college students. Our Riverside camp was held at Willow Park Christian Camp by the seaside. Back before I went along to Riverside camp it was held at Totara springs. But after a few years the money expenses of the bus down and up, then the staying there was too much for our school. But Willow Park on the other hand, only 30 minutes bus down and the cost staying at the camp was also cheaper. So now we go to Willow Park.

My favourite part about the camp was the beach games. Since we stayed across the road from the beach we’d normally go down for a swim, kayaking or beach games. The beach games themselves were alright, but when it started to rain things got a little more interesting. We all could see that the rain was coming and decided that it wouldn’t matter. So when the rain came we started doing more of water games than sandy beach games. Then after a while Mr Burt our school principal and organiser of the camp said, “You can all jump in the water for a swim!” and as he said that everyone dropped the gear they were holding and rushed into the water. The water felt warm because the rain was so cold. We stayed in the water for a while until we were told to pick up our gear, go back to the camp site, get warm, dry and ready for dinner.

Hiwi the Kiwi

Have you ever heard of Hiwi the Kiwi? Hiwi the Kiwi is a road show of two people. Mr and Mrs Minstrel. They go around New Zealand to schools and teach them about three things, how to keep the fish for the future, how to save our seabirds and Minstrel taught us about Water safety. In this story I  shall be explaining what Hiwi the Kiwi (Mr and Mrs Minstrel) taught us in the Pt England School hall.Image result for hiwi the kiwi

The first lesson Mr and Mrs Minstrel told us about was keeping fish for the future. It means fishing the right size of fish. Especially when you are fishing on a boat. The size of the fish varies when the fish type changes. One tool that is very useful is a fish ruler. It helps to measure the fish and tells you the legal and illegal size of fish you’re allowed. But what was also interesting was Mr Minstrel also told us not to take the really big fish because they could maybe have some baby eggs inside of them. Then Mr Minstrel told us a story about a little girl who’s dad caught a prize snapper and she told her dad to put the snapper back in the water.Image result for fish ruler

The second lesson was about Saving our Seabirds. Mr minstrel talked about when you go fishing you look for birds flying over the water. Because normally under the birds are lots and lots of fish. But, the problem Mr & Mrs Minstrel told us about was when we through out our lines we can sometimes catch a bird instead of a fish. What happens is the birds dive into the water then see the bait at the end of the hook, but they don’t know that there is a hook that holds the bait. So the bird bites the bait and gets it’s beak stuck on the hook. Then we think that it’s a fish and pull up the line. Even if we get the hook out from the bird's beak the bird might not be able to eat and then they get hungry and die. The other issue is when us humans drop rubbish, especially plastic things. For example a plastic lid was floating above the water and a bird was passing by. The bird might have thought it was a fish and gobbled it up. But that bird did not know that what he thought was a fish was actually plastic. The plastic inside the bird’s body did not digest. It stayed where it was and other food that tried to go down was stuck inside the bird’s body. So the bird got hungrier and hungrier then slowly died of hunger. So to stop this when we go fishing we should bring a water gun/blaster and shot the birds if they get too close to the fishing lines. The water will not kill them but scare them away from the lines.

And the last lesson was about water safety. About wearing a life jacket and making sure it fits. Mr Minstrel talked to Pt England about some people especially adults who would through their life jackets at the front of the boat and say, “I’ll leave that their and when I need it I will grab it.” but by that point in time you could have fallen off the boat. A story that Mr and Mrs Minstrel told us was about three men in their 20’s. They decided to go for a boat ride. They left their life jackets at the front of the boat and went zooming across the water. But what they didn’t know was that there was a broken log that sat just underneath the water so the three men couldn’t see it. When the three men drove over it they fell off. But by that time they couldn’t get their life jackets it was on a boat. The boat kept driving away with nothing on it except for the three life jackets that were left their. So the men had to swim a long way to get to shore. But it was to far away and they didn’t have life jackets to keep them afloat so the boys sadly ended up dieing!

So the overall lessons and messages that Mr and Mrs Minstrel were trying to tell us about were the following. First, looking after our kaimoana or in other words keeping fish for the future. Second, saving our seabirds which was about making sure our seabirds are safe and not endangered. And last but not least the third lesson was about water safety and always wearing a life jacket no matter what. The lessons that Mr and Mrs Minstrel told us were good and you people that are reading this should listen to what Mr and Mrs Minstrel said about our fish, seabirds and our lives. So now that you’ve read this nonfiction story you can put it into practice, good luck!

Zoe Sophia's experience at the Olympics (narrative)

The Olympics
Introduction: Zoe Sophia, Weightlifting, Rio Olympics, 2016
Orientation: She trained for four years, Because she wanted to teach her kids that no matter what you can achieve anything
Problem: She sprains her right arm whilst trying to lift 250 kg's
Solution: Zoe stays in Rio and her family come and give her a gift

Zoe Sophia is 24 years old and currently lives in Venezuela. She has 2 kids, Greg and George. Greg is 8 and George is 6. They both love their mum. Zoe is competing in this year’s Olympics, the 2016 Rio Olympics. Her sport is weightlifting. When Zoe was growing up in Venezuela her and her friends used the strongest stick they could find as a bar, then put tires on each end as weights. But the rest of the kids around her would put her down and say that her dream of going to the olympics was stupid. But that didn’t stop her. So she persevered and kept on going until she was ready for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

If you didn’t know it takes 4 years of training to get to the olympics and only the best of your country can compete. So Zoe had to work very hard to get where she is today. Zoe Sophia wanted to teach her kids that no matter what you do, you can achieve anything. So that’s what Zoe was going to do. When Zoe gets on the plane to Rio she farewells her family. She is leaving with her teammates and is excited about what lays ahead.

It’s now day three of the olympics and today Zoe Sophia shall be competing in the 58 kg women’s weightlifting grade. Zoe’s really nervous, her hands are shaking. The last women to perform the 150 kg weights had only just past. She almost dropped the bar. This only made Zoe feel worse. Then out of a loudspeaker in the stadium an announcer called for, “Zoe Sophia!”. As Zoe’s name was called she felt her heart was beating out of her chest. But then she thought of her family and how important they were to her. Also how proud they’d be when she hopefully wins gold. That gave Zoe the burst of energy she needed to lift the 150 kg weight.

As Zoe steps on to the platform where the 150 kg weight is waiting for her to lift it Zoe thinks of what technique she will use. “Should I do the Squat Pattern or maybe the Goblet Squat?” but before she knew it she had to lift the weights. She first puts her right then left hand on the bar. Zoe puts all her weight and energy into the bar and hauled the weights onto her shoulders, the first step is done. But Zoe wasted a lot of her energy, she realised that her muscles were near point break. She had to act fast, her muscles were taunting her to release but Zoe pushed on. She lifted the weights off her shoulders and as she extended her arms she felt a weakness in her right shoulder. She started to feel a soring pain in her right shoulder. Zoe instantly dropped to the ground letting go of the bar. Officials immediately rushed onto the stage and cleared the scene the audience was shocked in horror…

When Zoe caught awareness of what was going on she saw two medic’s operating on her right arm. Then rushing to the room where she was three bodies were moving towards her. At first Zoe could only make out bodies, but as her vision came into focus she could make out three people that she knew. It was Greg, George and her beloved husband Ethan. They came rushing in. “Are you ok.” asked Ethan. Then after those words struck a conversation that lasted at least an hour. They talked about how she injured her arm then the husband talked about how they were in the stadium supporting her. Then as the conversation died Greg and George presented their mum with a gift. Zoe opened the box wondering what the gift would be. She saw the gift held it up, then Greg slung it around her neck. It was a homemade medal. “This is better than a gold medal.” said Zoe. Soon they’d leave for home and Zoe would have been proud to go home with a medal around her neck, especially because it was given to her by her own family. So Zoe was happy that she went to the Rio 2016 Olympics.

The Chicken Leg Effect???

You might be wondering why it's called the chicken leg effect. Well, I won't tell you, you'll have to find that part out for yourself. But I will give you a clue. It has something to do with space and the cause of being in space for a period of time. So hopefully you'll read the presentation and comment below the answer and I'll see who actually looked at the article and who just asked a friend or guesed. Good luck!

Leaving for an exciting holiday

It was a cold Sunday evening. The car was already packed and all we were waiting for were the keys still hanging up on the hook and the owners of them. Shannon(mum) and Anthony(dad) were rushing through the house sorting stuff out when finally the door burst open and our Mother came out, and close behind here our father, the reason they took long was because they each had little snacks to help us get to our destination without a rumbly stomach. So mum and dad unhooked the keys, step by step got into the car, put the slightly rusted key into the keyhole, turned it and the van successfully turned on, we were on our way.

But as my family and I were leaving home we realised that we hadn’t had dinner so while Anthony went to his workshop with two of my brothers, my mother, brother and I went to go and get some dinner. The choices were out of Wendy’s, Wendy’s or Wendy’s. So after we picked up the food from Wendy’s we drove to my father’s workshop, ate the food, and then left to travel by car for 5 hours down to a little town known as Ohakune. You must be wondering why are we going to Ohakune? Because 30 minutes away lives the great Mt Ruapehu. We are going away for 2 weeks on a snowboarding holiday!

Winter Learning Journey Bonus 1 Week 1

Bonus: During the ancient Olympic Games, men were allowed to compete in the events but women were not. In fact, women were often forbidden from even watching the games. In your opinion, is this a fair rule? Why or why not? On your blog please tell us what you think about this interesting rule.

It goes both ways. No, because women should be able to see their loved ones play and fight and win. Not stand outside the stadium and wait. Back then women weren't treated with respect and women should always be treated with respect. But also yes because men used to run fight and ride horses naked so it would be very inapropriate if ladies were in a stadium with a lot of naked men.

Winter learning Journey Activity 2 Week 1

Activity 2:  In the ancient Olympic Games the winner of each event was called the Olympionic. Instead of a gold medal, the winner had a palm leaf placed in their hands and a crown placed on their head to show that they were the winner. Arguably one of the most famous Olympionics was a man named ‘Milo of Kroton’ (see picture below). Use Google to research ‘Milo of Kroton’ and post three interesting facts about him on your blog.

Three fast facts about Milo of Kroton:

  1. Milo of Kroton was a Wrestler

  1. Milo of Kroton was a six time olympic victor

  1. Milo of Kroton came from a Greek city of Croton in southern Italy

Winter Learning Journey Activity 1 Week 1

Activity 1: Let’s imagine that you were alive 2792 years ago and invited to compete in the first ever ancient Olympic Games. Which of these events: running, wrestling, boxing, pankration, horse racing and pentathlon would you compete in? Click on the name of the sport and it will take you to a site that tells you about the sport. On your blog tell us which sport you would choose and why you chose it.

If I was alive 2792 years ago and I was invited to take part in the first ever Olympic games in Olympia, Greece, I would have to pick one sport to play out of 6. The choices were running, wrestling, boxing, pankration, horse racing, and pentathlon, and out of all of these choices I’d have to choose Horse racing. The reason being, Chariot racing seems like the most fun and life threatening sport to play. C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\Chariot racing image (close up).jpg

Alma (writing)

Listen don’t watch:
Music notes, trumpet, melody, footsteps in snow, dancing, heavy and light footsteps, bell, two people challenging to impress the girl to give them money, whistle, a thud, a door screeching, water drops, bird singing, smacking, small melody, creepy music, ghostly music, ball bouncing, a ghostly shed, someone gasping, heavy breathing, cracks, dancing, back to the start, snowy,

Main points:
  • On the street, write name on blackboard
  • Sees the doll

  • Inside the doll shop

  • Gets sucked into the doll

On the street, write name on blackboard:

Millions of white flakes of snow came glittering down from above. A little girl was strolling down the street in winter gear, no one was nearby. The town looked empty, there were empty houses everywhere. The place in a way looked ‘gloomy’. As Alma waddled down the side path she came across a massive blackboard with so many names all written in white chalk. As Alma looked at the ground she saw a piece of chalk, the same white chalk that the other people had used to write with. So Alma reached for the chalk, she picked it up and, ‘A’, ‘l’, ‘m’, ‘a’ was written on the board (in very good handwriting). Then behind her was a creaking noise…

Sees the doll:

As Alma looked behind her, on a stand she saw a doll. But this doll looked just like her. She walked with steady steps toward what looked like a shop, with hundreds of dolls inside it. But where’s the shop owner? Clearly Alma wasn’t thinking this. She got drawn closer to the shop, and as she took a close look at this strange life like doll, It was wearing the exact same things Alma was wearing, from Alma’s jacket to her little gloves. It was like Alma forgot everything that was going on except for the doll. Then Alma backed away from the window and walked over to the door, “OH NO”, were the words screaming through my head. Why would she open a door just to get a freaky doll. Then Alma reaches to grab the handle, she grabbed it then with a creaking noise pulled it down, “no, no, no”. But luckily the door was locked. Alma tried again and again until she realized it’s pointless. Just as she’s about to walk away she stepped in the soft and powdery snow. She curled the snow into a little ball, and thrusted it at the door then stormed off. Then something made her stop, Alma turned and suddenly the door was unlocked and drifting open…

20 Hour Famine

Tonight Friday, 10 June 2016 Pt England School is holding a 20 hour famine. That means no eating for 20 HOURS! But we don't just sit in our beds and go to sleep. No, that would just be plain boring. We will (hopefully) be staying up really late doing fun activities. But a famine is not just about fun and games. We will be fundraising money for Syrian Refugees. The money will go towards stationery packs, nutritious food, arts, sports and counselling, education for children, desks, tables and chairs. So that is a lot of things right. So if you'd like to join, then starve for 20 hours and fundraise money for kids who are struggling. Have fun not eating.

Show not Tell (Narrative)

A Rugby Game

The whistle blows, “Beep”, and the game has started. The ball plummets through the air in a spiral motion. St Kents number 2 catches the ball with a thud. He runs straight at me, my heart starts to pump faster and faster until it almost pumps out of my chest. The excitement is raging inside of me. But it was all gone with the shuffling of his feet as he tries to swerve around me. He eventually does so but luckily my friend Collin comes in and saves the day. The St Kents boy is dragged to the ground. A bit of grass and sand flicks in my face as this is done. I come around to help Collin to find that the rest of their team is already here.

One, then two, then three St Kents boys come charging in. The force in their upper body was amazing. I was almost knocked onto my backside. One of their boots stood on my fingers. As I looked down at my hand it was bright red. I clenched my fist and kept pushing for the ball. But by that time it was too late. It had left the ruck and was in another boy's hands. He threw a perfect spiral pass to another one of his team mates. This boy was big. He was taller than me and was more bulked up than me. But what made me really worried was when he ran at full speed, his legs were pumping and he didn’t stop. I couldn’t be allowed to miss another tackle. But the only way to stop him was by attacking with my shoulder then wrapping my hands around his legs and dropping.

With a bang of my shoulder to his chest he came falling down. As he hit the ground I felt a little shake, and this time our team was here. We took this chance to pick up the ball and run. Taiaha (friend) ran with the ball. Our coach told us, “You have to protect this rugby ball, pretend it is a gold ingot. You have to protect…”, so Taiaha ran with that ball. I followed him up. He looked left and right seeing that there was no clean way out. I called for the ball, “Taiaha I’m open”. He saw me and just before the defender sank his shoulder into Taiaha’s stomach Taiaha passed the ball. With the ball in my hands and with an empty gap in front of me I ran. I don’t know how fast I was going but the defenders started catching up. I found it harder to breath, I was huffing and puffing.

I get over the Try line and score 5 points on the scoreboard. The ten Pt England School supporters cheered. I felt like falling over, but as I jogged back with clumpy steps I realized that I had the rest of the half to play. On the bus ride home with the ricketing windows and the bumping seats I knew I could go home and rest in my soft bed… wait there is Riverside. NOOOOO!

Wool and Nail art

This terms inquiry is 'as i see it'. Team 5 had their own inquiry. In team 5 we had to choose out of five groups to join. There is Harakeke and Sculturing, where you use Harakeke and other things to make your very own waka. There's also crayon and dye, where you create a piece of artwork based on your waka. Another is Logo design, where you make and create your very own artwork and you might even be able to print it out onto a t-shirt!

Last but not leased, we have Wool and Nail art, it's where you create a waka using wool and nails. I'm in wool and nail art. But we don't just do Wool and Nail. We shall also be making our very own waka out of two kayaks, and a bit of wood. You might ask, what is this all for? It is for an Art Exhibition happening at the end of the term. So come along and check out room 1's cool double hulled waka and four wool and nail waka's.

Wool & Nail Art

IMG_20160526_101723.jpgThis is wool and nail art. All you need is nails, wool and a piece of wood. You could make any design you’d like. This is my design. There’s only two steps to making your own wool and nail art. The first step is the nails, you need to hammer nails into a piece of wood. The second step is you add the wool, you can make any design you can imagine! So grab a piece of wool and grab a couple of nails and get creative!

as i see it(Immersion Assembly)

At the start of every term, PT England School have an Immersion Assembly. This is when our term inquiry is presented by the teachers. This term’s inquiry is, “as i see it”. It’s all about art. Different teams are doing different things that have to do with the topic. For example, team 1 are are doing favorite things. You might ask yourself, what has my favorite things got to do with art? Well, team one shall be first, explaining what there favorite things are, and then, either painting, pasteling, or drawing their favorite things. Like maybe someone likes cadbury milk chocolate. That’s what that child will have to draw.

Out of all the teams in the school I’d have to say that team 4 won my attention. They were all about comics and they might even be allowed to watch movies based on the comics, then create their own. So, to introduce their item, team four showed us a movie with comic features. So in a comic there are villains and heroes. The evil villain is known only by the name of Bear Baxendine! He is one of the most feared villains in all of the land. He is a master at stealing chromebooks, and sadly Bobby Jon’s chromebook was the favorite. So as the evil bear was escaping, two heroes stopped him. These two randoms were known as Amateur Heroes.

They charged at Bear Baxendine, but they underestimated him. As they came at him, Bear Baxendine landed a huge left hook right to the first heroes face. Then he did a roundhouse kick straight into the second heroes stomach. They were both taken down. Bear Baxendine tied them together around a pole. The Amateur heroes had failed. Now it was all up to, Wondering Woman, Bat Guy and their team leader, Team Leader America. They were the Teacher Vengers!

Bear Baxendine thought he had this fight. But what really happened is Team Leader America landed the first hit with his shield right to the face. Then Wondering Woman punches the bear in the face, and finally, Bat Guy kicks the bear in the stomach to finish him off. “Time for jail”, said Bat Guy. They set the captives free, then Bat Guy was showing off his muscles like he always does. “Wow Bat guy, Your muscles are so big!” said one of the Amateur Heroes. Then Wondering Woman barged in, “Ahem”.

After that movie I was feeling jealous that team four got to do comics and I didn’t. My favorite dressed teacher was Mr Sommerville. He was Team Leader America, and he looked like Captain America. One thing that I’m going to take away from this Assembly is that I feel confident in what this term’s all about.

The night before Fiafia

This year at PT England School we have an annual Fiafia that takes place this Thursday. PT England School have been doing it for over 1 years now. What Fiafia means to me is it’s all about different culture groups coming together and performing in front of one another. This year for Fiafia I am going to be a MC with three other prefects. So we will have to be learning things to say as well as our cultural group dances. There will be things like storytelling, dancing, cook island drums and our very own rock band will be playing!

This year's Fiafia, I am in the Kapa Haka group. We now practice everyday for two hours, I practice in the school hall. So I get an advantage, because I kind of get the idea of what it will be like on the actual stage. We haven’t yet chosen who shall lead the calls and who shall start the Ka Mate Haka. For the item I’m in the middle of the back row.

There are three main reasons why I love Fiafia, because of the food, performances and this year I shall be a MC. What is a MC you might ask? It’s the people who introduce the night, the items and who finish the night. So I’m really nervous, and we’ve only had about two days to practice! So hopefully I’ll do well. With the food, there are many stores that are available from 4:30 till 7:00. Speaking about time, all of the children who are in a group needs to get to their dressing rooms by 6:00. I had to be at school a little earlier than everyone else because I’m a MC. So wish me luck for Fiafia, and come down to Pt England School to watch me with the rest of my school and the Pt England Fiafia night!

A walk through the Woods (Writing Sample)

Years ago there had been said that a few troublemakers went on a bush walk in the Redwoods forest, what they did was mess up the track. But not in the way you may think. These few troublemakers added extra tracks and changed which direction the signs would go in. So when people would go on bush walks in the Redwoods, they’d normally end up lost and then fell into the hands of the troublemakers, who before they got the troublemaker name were Hank, John and Spike. But, as they got older they needed something to keep them alive. So they made a potion full of weird things like spider venom, dew from a ginko leaf and many more things. Now those once strapping young lads were turned into something else to horrible to imagine!

But for the likes of Mr & Mrs smith they loved the idea of it. They always wanted to go and find this creature. So they packed their bags and head off with their car to redwood forest to seek out this dark creature, put all the signs back in its rightful place and set the tracks straight. But what Mr Smith didn’t tell Mrs Smith was that he had a massive block of dark chocolate that he was going to eat secretly away deep in the forest. He’d been saving it for almost a month now and he thought it was time to finally taste the sweet dark chocolate and have it all to himself. So when the couple got to Redwood forest they quickly got ready their gear and set sail for adventure.

“Clump, clump, clump”, went Mr Smith's boots. They’d been walking for over 4 hours and the sun was going down, Mr Smith knew that if they didn’t hurry they’d have to stay the night in the forest. Mr Smith was getting tired and hungry, he kept on thinking about that chocolate of his and was wondering when he should eat it. Then he saw it, the one chance to get away and eat his precious chocolate. Mr Smith’s wife sat down on the side of the footpath, while Mr smith walked into the deep dark part of the forest. His excuse was, “I’m just going to the toilet”. But we both know what he was going to do. Eat chocolate and have a nice time alone for a while.

But just as he was unwrapping his precious chocolate he heard a distant yelp for help. It sounded like… his wife! He rushed to his feet and started sprinting towards the sound. As he started getting closer and closer he started hearing more voices. There was at least 100 people. When the bush finally opened up to a clearing Mr Smith saw his wife and other humans in what looked like a spider web. Then suddenly out of the deep dark forest came a spider with more humans, then another and another. Three spiders were now crowded around the web, each mumbling about which one they should eat. Then, the biggest spider of them all spotted the young man with his tramping pack and dark chocolate in his hand.

As the three spiders edged closer, Mr Smith got more scared. Mr Smith quickly held out his chocolate as a shield then one of the spiders took a bite of the chocolate and started to shrink, then in front of Mr Smith’s eyes formed a human. Mr Smith looked carefully at him. It was Spike, one of the troublemakers. Then the second took a bite and started shrinking the same way the first spider did. As the figure got smaller Mr Smith pieced out who he was. It was the second troublemaker, John. Now there was one more spider, he first looked at the chocolate studying its every feature then snatched it off the poor man and ate the rest of the chocolate. Then when he shrank, it was him. Hank. After this the four men took down all of the webs and freed every last soul. Then Mr and Mrs smith went home and decided to have a little sleep, because after all of that hard work they were tired. So everyone went home free from spider webs and all of the remembered Mr & Mrs smith for there braveness. The end

Easter's True Meaning to Me

Easter’s True Meaning to Me
Don’t you always love it when easter comes and you eat chocolate bunnies and Easter eggs (even though they make no sense, bunnies don’t lay eggs), and everyone has a good time talking about what they did last week and how funny it was. Have you ever thought about the true meaning of Easter?

About the man who saved us, who made us right? The one, the only, Jesus Christ who came to save us. Have you ever thought about Easter being more than just chocolate and seeing old friends and family? In this story I shall be telling you about what Easter means to me and also the true meaning to me.

This year when I celebrate Easter, I’ll be thinking about what really happened, what it was like and maybe have a few chocolates on the side. But what I think the true meaning of Easter is, is about the crucifixion of Jesus and when he rose on the third day. My family and I normally spend Friday morning in celebration, but also remembrance of what Jesus did for us. He died on a cross to take away our sins, and so now that he’s done that, we can be with him.

So this Easter, when you think about buying Easter eggs or going on an Easter egg hunt at the Auckland Domain, think about what the true meaning of Easter is. It’s still okay to eat chocolate bunnies and chocolate eggs, or go and see relatives. But I encourage you to keep in mind about Jesus and the real meaning of Easter. Also, you could even tell your friends about Easter. How cool is that! So now that you’ve heard about Easter’s true meaning to me, what’s Easter’s true meaning to you?

My first Think board for the year

This is my first think board for the term and the year. What think boards do is they first start with a problem. Then you solve it and show the strategy you used for it. After that you make up a word story problem also ad 10 similar questions. Then you show a diagram, this particular diagram isn't the best quality you could have but it'll have to do.

The Lake Monster (narrative)

There were stories about a terrible river monster that lived in the Taupo river. It loved feasting on people who swam or kayaked in his waters. But this story didn’t worry 2 brothers Zack & Max who loved to go on new adventures. They grew up hearing of this Myth, and from then on they wanted to find and destroy this horrible beast. so one day they got into a 2 man kayak and started paddling with their spear guns close by, just incase the beast decided to show itself.

When they got to the middle of the lake they saw two stranded kayaks. The two brothers thought it was strange to leave two brand new kayaks in the middle of the lake. Then suddenly there was something in the water. It moved swiftly through the water with its sharp and scaly skin. Then it went under the boat. The boys were worried that the beast would bring them under. But then the 2 brothers saw something under the water. It was two people who were stuck. luckily they had scuba gear on or else they would have died long ago. But they didn’t have long, the beast would soon get a good grip on them and have lunch. The two brothers seized their weapons and dived down to cut the stranded scuba swimmers out of the monster's grasp.

But as Zack and Max got closer Zack realised something, the monster that everyone grew up hearing about was actually seaweed. That explains the scuba gear. The two people who were on the kayaks, were going fishing and got stuck in the seaweed. When the two brothers brought the divers back to their kayaks, the divers said thank you and then left with their kayaks and never saw the two brothers again. Then when Zack and Max went home they told everyone about their adventure with the terrible lake monster (not). The next day everyone went to see if the brothers were lying or not. But the brothers were right. From then on the 2 brothers, Zack and Max were an insparaition to young kids about being brave.

Alphabet Addition wk2

Welcome back to 2016, if you may not know this is an Alphabet Addition. You look at the word you're trying to put into a number (e.g. day). Then you look at the letters that are compared to numbers and you do it letter by letter and in the end you have a number. Day = 14 + 10 + 250 = 274

Reflection writing

Last year in 2015 there were many things I enjoyed. I enjoyed learning new things in reading, writing, maths, and even technology. In Reading I learnt how to read in between the lines. Writing, I learnt how to add extra detail. Maths, I learnt more efficient ways of solving problems, and technology, I learnt how to cook some meals, make some stuff with wood and tools and in graphics made better art.

This year in 2016 I have 2 goals. My first goal is staying on track, and my second goal is to get into Sacred Heart College. So hopefully they both come true. If they do then that’ll be great but if they don’t then I hope at least the second goal comes right.

NF @ Festival One

Have you ever heard of someone called NF. If not, NF is a christian music artist that can sing and rap. NF is his initials, His real name is Nathan Feuerstein. Anyway, NF was at Festival One(music Festival) and my family and I really wanted to see him perform.

Image result for nf At the stadium there were thousands of other people where NF was playing. It seems as though NF is really popular. Suddenly the lights went dark and the crowd started screaming. it was crazy, like a whole bunch of monkeys were arguing over a banana. When NF started rapping everyone started busting out their dance moves.

At the end of the show everyone was asking for one more song, but NF wasn’t coming back on. So everyone left with stories to tell of this amazing artist. But then I saw him! At the tent he was sitting down shaking hands and giving autographs. So before the line got too long I quickly jumped in line with my two brothers and we got autographs and shook his hand. It was a cool little experience for me.

This is a link to one of his songs.
