On Tuesday the Year 6’s at PT England School went on a camp at Kawau Island. We went to camp to have an awesome experience.
When we arrived at school at 7:00 am in the hall. We were lining up in our camp groups A & B. The groups are Bentzon, Mansion, Kawau & Katz. Bentzon means Camp Bentzon, Mansion means the Mansion house on Kawau Island, Kawau stands for Kawau Island and Katz is for the Catamaran which is the ferry we go on.
I've been told that the Bus ride and the Ferry waiting takes ages. As soon as we hop onto the bus I’m right up the front because I get car sickness. It didn't take to long I'd say. The Ferry waiting is next and that did take long. So we went to the park and played. When the ferry came we were so happy, it didn't take to long it’s just we had to pack the bags onto and off the ferry.
The next two days at camp we did activities and I'd have to say that the sailing was the best. I've never been sailing before. But even though it was my first time doing sailing I was told that I was pretty good at sailing. You can choose to go with someone else or by yourself (normally). For the first 20 minutes I went with Ryan in the sailing boat but then I went by myself and I was so lucky, I got extra time in the sailing boat. Now that was awesome!
On the last night of camp we had a concert. We've been preparing for it all week at camp and a little time before. Surprisingly enough we already finished our item on the first day of camp, so we had a lot of fun. We had to practice everyday and finally the night came. Every teams items were good and in between the items there were awards for best male and female stuff. I got best male Kayaker and I got a chocolate bar but it was a small choc bar. Then there were the Curly Brothers (Mr Goodwin and Mr Sommerville) or CB’s for short, they were our hosts for the night. After the items there was the awards for 1st 2nd 3rd & 4th. “In 4th place” said Mr S, “is Katz”. There were cheers in the crowd. “In 3rd place is Kawau, In 1st place is… Bentzon so that means that Mansion came second”. Bentzon went wild (by the way I’m in Bentzon) with roars.
On the last day of camp we were all exhausted from the concert and late night sleeps. When we hopped on the ferry back to sandspit we all waved goodbye. It was so much fun, camp was awesome. My favorite part was the swim and bombing of the wharf. I’d recommend the camp to year 5’s because camp is a lot of fun and you could do stuff that you couldn't do before.
